What Is Project Charlie?
Project Charlie is one of the first projects started as a collective which we are exploring into self-driving autonomous vehicles systems. Currently, the team is in its first stages of learning, research and better understanding how the systems work. We hope the autonomous system can better help deliver drones systems currently in the market, with potential partnerships with other organizations. The first prototype is scheduled to end of March.
How Does It Work?
In our current system, we are using a webcam to detect its surroundings using OpenCV and Python to track and work around obstacles. A majority of the software is being built from the ground up. In the next few months, the robot will be able to store a memory map of its location with regular updates of its environment. This is mostly done through machine learning techniques if you want to learn more about machine learning click here. The hardware for this project is run by a Raspberry Pie with the help of a few motor controllers. Since this is the R&D phase we hope after more funds we can get access to LIDAR‘s, various sensors and few camera.
